Also, conventional MOFs are derived from non-renewable petroleum feedstock which makes them inherent toxic and non-biodegradable. To overcome these difficulties, recently, green, renewable framework material composite, biological metal-organic frameworks (bio-MOFs) have intrigued as a novel class of porous materials. Here, glucoamylase was encapsulated within ZIF-8 in presence of functionalized carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) at mild aqueous conditions. The successful formation of glucoamylase bio-MOF was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In thermal stability, glucoamylase bio-MOF exhibited 187 % enhanced thermal stability in the temperature range of 55-75 °C as compared to native form. Further, glucoamylase bio-MOF was recycled for 5 cycles and compared their activity with traditional glucoamylase MOF. Glucoamylase bio-MOF showed significantly improved recyclability which was attributed by adhesive nature of CMC. Finally, the conformational change occurred in enzyme after immobilization was determined by FT-IR data tools.Proteins in photosynthetic membranes can organize into patterned arrays that span the membrane’s lateral size. The architecture of thylakoid membranes, however, also provides opportunities for interlayer interactions that instead disfavor the high protein densities of ordered arrangements. Here, we explore the interplay between these opposing driving forces and, in particular, the phase transitions that emerge in the periodic geometry of stacked thylakoid membrane disks. We propose a lattice model that roughly accounts for proteins’ attraction within a layer and across the stromal gap, steric repulsion across the lumenal gap, and regulation of protein density by exchange with the stroma lamellae. Mean-field analysis and computer simulation reveal rich phase behavior for this simple model, featuring a broken-symmetry striped phase that is disrupted at both high and low extremes of chemical potential. The resulting sensitivity of microscopic protein arrangement to the thylakoid’s mesoscale vertical structure raises intriguing possibilities for regulation of photosynthetic function.Behavioral evidence of impaired response inhibition (RI) and hyperactive error monitoring (EM) in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is inconsistent. Recent neuroimaging work suggests that EM plays a role in RI impairments in OCD, but this has rarely been investigated using behavioral measures. The aims of this study were to (1) compare RI and EM performance between adults with OCD and non-psychiatric controls (NPC) while investigating possible moderators, and (2) assess whether excessive EM influences RI in OCD. We compared RI and EM performance on the Stop-Signal Task (SST) between 92 adults with OCD and 65 NPC from two Brazilian sites. We used linear regression to investigate which variables (group, age, medication use, clinical symptomatology) influenced performance, as well as to examine possible associations between RI and EM. OCD and NPC did not differ in RI and EM. However, age moderated RI performance in OCD with a medium effect size, reflecting differential effects of age on RI between groups age was positively associated with RI in OCD but not NPC. find more Further, OCD severity predicted EM with a medium to large effect size, suggesting that more symptomatic patients showed greater monitoring of their mistakes. Further, we found preliminary behavioral evidence to indicate that impaired RI and excessive EM are related in OCD.Involvements of quorum sensing (QS) in the formation of aerobic granules for wastewater treatment have been well recognized. In previous studies the evolution of the QS-related activities and communities during bioreactor start-up period has been extensively studied, while the variation of QS in long-term reactor operation remains unrevealed. Furthermore, information about the roles of quorum quenching (QQ) in bioreactors is very limited. In this work, both QS and QQ during the start-up and successive long-term operation period of an aerobic granule bioreactor were explored. The QS activity and communities increased in the start-up but gradually decreased in the long-term operation, while the QQ activity and communities remained stable. These results indicate the longer persistence of QQ than QS in the granules and the minor contribution of QS in the long-term operation. This work provides a new insight into the roles of QQ and QS in wastewater treatment bioreactors.Most visceral leishmaniasis (VL) cases reported in Brazil are from the northeast region, where the disease is strongly linked to poverty. In spite of the still existing inequalities, many social improvements were achieved in the past decades in this region, but the possible impact of these improvements on VL remains poorly investigated. We conducted a cross-sectional study coupled with a spatial analysis of VL cases notified in northeastern Brazil from 2007 to 2017. In total, 21,703 cases were reported during this period, with an annual incidence of 3.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Children under 10 years old and males were more affected, and most cases were from urban areas. Living in municipalities situated in the Cerrado, Amazon or, to a lesser extent, in the Caatinga biomes was a risk factor for VL. This study indicates that the epidemiological profile of VL patients remained unchanged in northeastern Brazil, suggesting that social improvements achieved in this region were not enough to mitigate the risk of this disease among the most affected populations.
