    An increasing number of pre-presbyopic patients are undergoing uniocular cataract extraction. We aim to compare the binocular status of subjects with uniocular cataracts, implanted either with a multifocal or a monofocal intraocular lens (IOL).

    Subjects were recruited from outpatient ophthalmology clinics and randomized to an IOL type.     Sixty diabetic patients and 47 age- and sex-matched controls were enrolled in this cross-sectional study. Endothelial cell density (ECD) and morphology (average and coefficient of variation [CV] of cell size, percentage of hexagonal cells) were recorded using non-contact specular microscopy. Central corneal thickness (CCT) and corneal volume were measured by scheimpflug tomography. Univariate and multivariate linear regression analyses were performed to evaluate the relationship between demographical, clinical, and ocular variables with CCT and ECD.

    To evaluate the optical quality and tear film quality in patients with dry eye syndrome (DES) before and after using an intranasal neurostimulation device to stimulate tear production.

    Cross-sectional review of 33 eyes in 21 patients with DES who underwent optical quality and tear film analysis as part of their routine dry eye evaluation pre- and post-neurostimulation trial in office. Optical quality was assessed by measuring the objective scattering index (OSI) and modulation transfer function (MTF). The time to blink and mean tear film OSI were used to analyze the tear film.
